Maybe you’ve been following what I’ve been doing here from the start, maybe you just joined recently because you saw a recipe on Instagram, or perhaps a newsletter was shared with you via email and it appealed to you.
Either way, I’m six months into this project, and I’m just going to have a quick pause. What am I doing here?
What is The Lunchbox newsletter?
I’m Georgia Levy, a recipe developer, food stylist and cookbook author. My first cookbook, Let’s do Lunch came out last year, having been just a twinkle in my eye five years ago. Since then, I’ve been thrilled to see so many people cooking my favourite lunch recipes.
But I wanted to find a more engaged community away from social media and that’s why I started my Substack. It’s a place where I can joyfully share all my enthusiasm and excitement for things I’ve recently discovered and eaten and really explore issues that tickle me.
As it (and I) mature, I feel like it’s beginning to evolve into something wonderful; bringing you the most interesting things to eat and watch, interspersed with cooking tips and tricks (have you read my post on sweat-free hosting or essential cooking equipment?) and recipes that brings together seasonal ingredients and how I love to eat.
So what happens next?
This is a labour of love, and it takes a lot of time to bring together. To be able to keep it going, I’m going to ask for your support, in order to cover my costs and allow me to take time out of my freelance work to research and write it.
Today, I’ll be launching a subscription option for The Lunchbox newsletter. At £4 a month, you can continue to receive the writing and recipes you’ve come to expect every other Friday. The first half of the newsletter - including the recipe - will remain free; the second half will be behind a paywall. That’s half a pint of craft beer in a London pub. Or you could help support this publication. What would you rather spend that money on, eh?
What will I get if I subscribe?
There will still be the usual twice monthly newsletter, delivered at 1pm Fridays. It’ll just be divided in half. Subscribers will also receive subscriber-only bonus posts and offers, full archive access (incl all recipes) and be able to join the community and post comments.
You can also give a one-off donation of any amount as a ‘Founding Member’ and receive my ETERNAL DEVOTION, as well as all subscriber perks.
When will this go into effect?
My next post on Friday will remain free, but from 10 March 2023, it will be paywalled as described above. You should sign up now, if you ask me. Here’s another one of those big orange buttons. They’re fun to click.
What if I don’t want to pay?
That’s fair, and I understand that - I know not everyone has the commitment or ability to pay at this time, and I want to continue to serve my current audience. You will still receive the delicious snack section and a seasonal recipe in your inbox every second Friday. If you can’t pay, do just get in touch with me.
